The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products, educating consumers, and providing verified non-GMO choices.
To start with we can touch on, what is Non-GMO? GMOs (or “genetically modified organisms”) are organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering, or GE. This fairly new science creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods. The Non-GMO Project works hard to keep an updated list of at risk foods for consumers to follow by.
As discussed in a previous blog, White Mountain Foods does not support the use of GMO in our food supply. You can read more about those views at this link.
